Olivia Wong/WireImage Oh, who earned fiveEmmynominations and a Golden Globe for her work onGrey's Anatomy, hasn't returned to the show since her departure in 2014 and, over the years, has been adamant abouther decision not to come back. The character, however, has remained a part of the story through onscreen mentions, phone calls and written correspondences with other characters. Cristina notably showed up to support her best friend Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) at the funeral for her husband Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey), though a body double for Oh was used in the scene. Kevin McKidd, who plays Owen Hunt onGrey's Anatomy, previously told PEOPLEhe wants Oh to returnbecause he believes their characters, who were former spouses, have "a lot of history there they would have to talk about" and that it would make for "really great television." McKidd said he thinks a conversation between Owen and Cristina would be "complicated because there's such a love" between them, coupled with the fact that they "didn't really get a proper goodbye with each other."
